Folgate Insurance

Folgate Insurance Company Limited has been a recognised and established insurer in the UK since 1877.

Throughout its previous history, the company principally wrote major personal lines and commercial lines accounts, as well as business generated by regional brokers.

Folgate was placed into run-off in 2002, and in August 2014, APC Underwriting (APC) purchased 100% of the shareholding. APC could see the potential of resurrecting this long established insurer and in September 2015 Folgate was granted its licence by the regulators to act as a re-insurer. As Folgate’s managing agent, APC was then in a position to commence writing commercial lines business through it. In June 2018 Folgate was granted its direct licence by the Prudential Regulation Authority and will now act as the direct insurer.

Folgate’s original values will be preserved and by combining tradition with a market-leading business model, we will continue to give UK brokers access to a long-established UK domiciled insurer.

Folgate will offer UK brokers the facility to arrange a wide range of commercial insurance products on behalf of their clients, including Property Owners, Packaged, Combined, General Liability, Professional Liability, Directors & Officers and Warranty.

Folgate will also underwrite binding authorities for the above products through MGA’s and independent brokers.
